Temperament: He is doing great with house training! He is crated during the day and hasn't messed his crate at all. He is such a love bug! He is a very mild-tempered boy, so very sweet and loving. He thinks he is a lap dog! He isn't a barker, which is a plus! We are working with leash training and he is doing great with a prong collar. We have walked on the road and at the forest preserve and he was very respectful on the leash. We are treat training for very basic commands. He sits well and we are working on "down", "stay", and "come". This love bug just wants someone to be his best friend. Someone who will share the couch or the bed with. Someone to snuggle with. There have been multiple nights where he has fallen asleep forehead to forehead with me. He rides in the car well, but learning to stay in his own seat. He does like to chew but just toys. He hasn't chewed furniture or shoes.

All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up to date on preventatives at the time of adoption.

All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present at the time of your appointment. A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption.

The shelter is currently open by appointment only with an approved application. Please note, all applications are considered general and stay on file for 6 months. Specific animals are NOT put on hold for adoption. When you visit, the adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family.

Animal House Shelter cannot guarantee the breeds of the adoptable animals. The animals are posted on the website as the breed or breed mix based on their physical characteristics they most resemble. We also cannot guarantee the ages of our adoptable animals or how large puppies will be when fully grown.
