Hooper

Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Boxer
Age: 6 years
Weight: 34 pounds
Gender: Male
Temperament: Hooper was rescued from an unimaginable hoarding situation in which over 40 animals were found in deplorable conditions in a small home. Hooper was found in a tiny crate on the front porch. This sweet boy was terrified. Hooper has come a long way since his rescue and transport to AHS in January and it has been amazing to watch his personality bloom in foster care. Hooper does great with both dogs and cats! He knows “sit” and “place” and is also crate trained. He has a lovely, goofy personality and will do anything for a treat! Hooper would do best in an adult-only, quiet home since the world can still be scary for him sometimes!

I AM IN FOSTER CARE! PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION. ONCE APPROVED, PLEASE EMAIL US (INFO@ANIMALHOUSESHELTER.COM) AND WE CAN SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR YOU TO MEET ME!

A note from my foster family: Hooper is a very well-behaved house guest. He follows me everywhere and is always interested in what I’m doing. He gets along great with our resident dog and shows no interest in our cat. He is still shy about some things but can be brave with the encouragement of our dog and people he trusts. He is content to take naps on his bed all day long but has enjoyed exploring our backyard. He loves chewing on his toys and even tried out a few puzzle treat games. Hooper does great in his crate when we leave the house and at night. He is still working on potty training but it is doing very well. He is a very smart little guy and responds well to his name. He knows ‘sit’ and ‘place’ commands and is working on ‘down’ and ‘crate’. Hooper’s favorite time of day is meal time and will pretty much do anything for a treat. You can see in his pictures that he has such a lovable, goofy personality!
